Modern slavery is an overarching concept that encompasses a wide range of severe human rights violations, with human trafficking being one of its most prominent and widely recognized forms. It refers to situations in which individuals are coerced, deceived, or forced into exploitative conditions and are unable to refuse or leave due to threats, violence, abuse of power, or other forms of control. At its core, modern slavery involves the systematic exploitation of people for their bodies and their labour, often for economic gain. This exploitation can take many forms, including forced labour, sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, debt bondage, and forced marriage. Despite being illegal in most countries, modern slavery persists globally, affecting vulnerable populations such as women, children, migrants, and those living in poverty, and remains a critical challenge to human dignity, freedom, and social justice.<\/p>\n
